The Andrews Labor Government has installed blue guideposts on the Hamilton Highway to make it easier for drivers to find rest stops.
Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney today welcomed the installation of the 72 guideposts, which are installed on the approach to the four rest areas on the highway.
The guideposts are in clusters of six ahead of the rest stops to alert drivers, particularly for the more than 400 truck drivers that travel between Fyansford and Mortlake each day.
Fatigue is one of the big three killers on Victorian roads for all road users, with it contributing to over 20 per cent of road crashes across the state.
Increasing awareness of designated rest areas will help encourage drivers to take regular breaks and ensure they reach their destination safely this holiday season.
