Students in Western Victoria will be big winners as part of the Andrews Labor governments additional funding for school uniforms, shoes, books and stationery through State Schools’ Relief (SSR).
The Andrews Labor Government’s $15.6 million commitment will enable SSR to increase the number of students receiving financial help, up from the 10,000 who benefited from the program last year to 35,000 this year.
The Andrews Labor Government is committed to supporting families and making sure every student has every chance to reach their full potential. This includes helping parents with the costs of educating their children.
For 85 years, SSR has worked with government schools to provide school essentials (uniforms, shoes, textbooks) to struggling families, helping more children to fully participate in education.
It is the leading agency providing such assistance to students in Victorian government
schools.
Schools can apply online to State Schools’ Relief at www.ssr.net.au/schools when they believe a student needs help with appropriate uniforms and footwear for school.
Families looking for support through the program should contact their local child’s
school directly.
