State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers in Polwarth will have the very best equipment to keep the community safe as part of $2.2 million in SES Grants.
The Labor Government today announced the recipients of the 2016-17 Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program.
Under the program, the government commits $2 for every $1 provided by volunteer groups to help them buy additional trucks, tankers, watercraft and trailers, and carry out minor facility upgrades.
The SES received 42 grants to help volunteer units buy much-needed equipment to respond to floods, storms and other emergencies.
Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney MP said 5 SES units in Polwarth are among the recipients.
The recipients included:
- Bannockburn Unit – $25,338 for Road Rescue Equipment
- Terang Unit – $17,597 for Building Improvement
- Cobden Unit – $6,942 for Road Rescue Equipment
- Lismore Unit – $21,255 for Building Refurbishment
- Port Campbell Unit – $11,415 for Building Improvement
The CFA, Life Saving Victoria and Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association were among the other organisations to receive grants under the almost $13 million program.
Organisations can apply for government contributions of up to $100,000.
