Aspiring athletes, coaches, officials and teams in Western Victoria get set to unlock your sporting potential by applying for funding from the latest round of the Victorian Government’s Athlete Pathway Travel Grants Program.
Labor Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney today announced applications for the next round of the $2.4 million Athlete Pathway Travel Grants Program were now open.
Athletes, coaches and officials often need to travel long distances to competitions or training camps to reach their potential, and we are helping them to remove the cost barrier of travel and accommodation.
So far the Athlete Pathway Travel Grants Program has provided 584 successful applicants from over 60 different sports across the State a share in more than $1.09 million.
State sporting associations will be able to apply for grants of up to $6000 for teams, or $2000 for individual athletes for travel to compete at national championships or selection trials.
Clubs can also apply for up to two grants per funding round of $750 each to assist athletes, coaches, officials and teams with the travel costs of training and competition.
In the last round funding support was given to Victorians competing at events like the Indoor Cricket Junior Championships, Pony Club National Championships, Paratriathlon National selection events, Football Federation Australia Girls National Youth Championships and the Adult National Tenpin Bowling Championships.
The Athlete Pathway Travel Grants Program is part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to make sport more accessible and inclusive, increase local participation, stimulate local economies, and build sustainable sport and recreation and volunteer opportunities.
Applications for 2017 are now open and close on 28 August 2017. For more information or to apply online, visit www.sport.vic.gov.au
