The Andrews Labor Government is helping local young people put on events and celebrate National Youth Week, with $225,000 in National Youth Week grants.
Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney MP has welcomed a grant of $2,000 for the Glenelg Shire’s Celebrating you(th) Community Festival.
Celebrating you(th) is a mini community festival showcasing the local talent of young people living in the Glenelg Shire through live music, art, dance, sports and advocacy.
This event will activate Portland’s new Youth Activity Skate Space by collaborating with a range of local youth organisations to provide a diverse cultural event for the whole community but with a focus on a young audience.
National Youth Week is an annual week-long celebration of young people aged from 12 to 25 years old, allowing them to express their creativity and have their say about issues important to them. It is a partnership between the Victorian and Federal Governments.
Young Victorians have a valuable contribution to make in Colac and the Labor Government is helping them develop their skills and make their voices heard.
Last year the Government consulted with thousands of young Victorian to help develop its new youth policy, which will be announced later this year.
