Dennington children, both big and small, will have more opportunities to get physically active thanks to $60,000 in Victorian Government funding for the Dennington Playground Redevelopment.
Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney today announced the Warrnambool City Council would receive a grant through the Community Facility Funding Program – Minor Facilities Category.
“Victorians love their sport and recreation, especially here in the Corangamite Shire. This funding will go a long way in helping Dennington cater for safe play areas for children.” Ms Tierney said.
“We want to make it easier for the community to stay involved in the sport and recreation activities they enjoy, and to lead healthy and active lifestyles. That’s what our ‘Go for your life’ campaign is all about.
“That is why the Victorian Government is taking action to ensure communities have the local infrastructure they need to participate in the sport of their choice,” Ms Tierney said.
Ms Tierney said the project in Dennington was one of 76 projects to share in more than $3.8 million under the 2010-2011 Community Facility Funding Program – Minor Facilities Category.
“Grants of up to $60,000 are available. Funding provided through the program supports local communities in the development and upgrade of community sport and recreation facilities.” Ms Tierney said.
“We want all Victorians to experience the benefits of an active lifestyle, that’s why we are working closely with local councils and communities to develop quality, accessible facilities,” she said.
Since 2000, the Victorian Government has invested more than $192 million through the Community Facilities Funding Program towards more than 2,000 community facility projects across Victoria.
