Students at Timboon P-12 School are a step closer to having the facilities they deserve, with construction on the school upgrade due to get underway shortly.
Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney MP today joined parents, students and teachers to turn the first sod to mark the start of construction.
The $5.2 million project will include:
- Construction of a new senior school building with flexible learning areas, break out spaces, a connection to outdoor learning areas and an encompassing verandah, and new toilets accessible from inside and outside.
- The landscaping of the new senior building is proposed to include a new outdoor learning courtyard, three ‘green’ outdoor learning spaces, new raised planters, trees and garden beds.
- There will also be a science learning courtyard with a ‘rain garden’ for studying plant science, environmental studies and environmentally sensitive design, which the VCE individual study rooms will overlook.
- The refurbishment of four buildings into junior student areas with new technology facilities, administration areas, canteen, arts and craft facilities, a teaching kitchen and open learning spaces.
The new state-of-the-art facilities will provide better learning environments for local students so they can get the best out of their education.
The Andrews Labor Government is building the Education State so that every Victorian student gets the opportunity for a great education and every community has access to a great school.
There are now 42 new government schools and hundreds of school upgrades in the construction pipeline following the Labor Government’s record $1.8 billion investment in school infrastructure.
This school building boom will create 4000 construction jobs and ensure all Victorian families have access to a great school no matter where they live.
