My constituency question is for the Minister for Education and is directed through the Minister for Training and Skills, Mr Herbert, in his capacity as representing Minister Merlino in this chamber.
It is in regard to the current structure and role of regional offices within the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
Over the coalition government’s reign a number of significant changes were made to the education department’s regional offices.
On numerous occasions over the past four years organisations, principals, teachers, parents and other constituents have raised issues about regional offices being pared back, not providing sufficient support to local schools and not being aligned with the key issues confronting local schools.
I ask the minister to inform me whether the Andrews government will conduct a review of regional offices of the education department, how such a review would be conducted and when our education community can expect an outcome?
