Life Saving Victoria volunteers in South Barwon will share in almost $735,000 in Victorian Government grants to buy new equipment.
The Andrews Labor Government today announced the recipients of the 2016-17 Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program.
Under the program, the government commits $2 for every $1 provided by volunteer groups to help them buy additional trucks, tankers, watercraft and trailers, and carry out minor facility upgrades.
Life Saving Victoria received 30 grants to help volunteer clubs buy much-needed equipment to keep Victorian safe in the water.
Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney MP said 3 lifesaving clubs in South Barwon are among the recipients.
Recipients included:
- Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club – $20,329 for replacement of Rescue Equipment
- Torquay Life Saving Club – $13,943 for replacement of an ATV
- Bancoora Surf Life Saving Club – $24,000 for replacement of ATV and Rescue Equipment
The $735,000 for Life Saving Victoria also includes more than $42,000 – with no co-contribution required – for a state-wide roll out of extra life jacket harnesses, shoulder harnesses and waterproof bags to protect radios.
The Victorian State Emergency Service, CFA and Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association were among the other organisations to receive grants under the almost $13 million program.
Organisations can apply for government contributions of up to $100,000.
