More men in Heywood will be building new friendships, skills and community connections, thanks to a Victorian Government grant for an extended men’s shed.
Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney today announced the Heywood Men’s Shed would receive $14,000 towards their much needed shed extension.
The grant will build an extension of the existing shed by 7m x 7m to accommodate additional activities, as well as the inclusion of an office.
Across Victoria, new men’s sheds will be constructed in eight communities, while 15 other sheds will be refurbished, thanks to $879,000 in grants from the Victorian Government. The Warrnambool Men’s Shed will be building a new shed, while the Timboon Men’s Shed will construct a new veranda.
Men’s sheds are safe and productive spaces for men to work on common projects, and actively participate in their local community.
They also help improve the health and wellbeing of participants by promoting social inclusion.
There are more than 1,000 sheds across the country, with over 360 in Victoria.
The Victorian Government is a proud supporter of men’s sheds and recognises the important role they play in bringing the community together.
