The Andrews Labor Government is getting on with the job of giving the Cobden community the great sport and recreation facilities it deserves.
Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney MP today announced a $90,000 Community Sports Infrastructure Fund grant to build a new publically accessible, multi-purpose gym facility next to the Rodney Grove Aquatic Centre.
The project will provide for a number of benefits including access to both gym and pool activities on the same site, a range of different exercise and fitness activities available simultaneously, rooms for professionals such as physiotherapists and easier public access to the fitness precinct.
The co-location of the new exercise and fitness facility and the warm water aquatic centre will create an inviting complex for the health and well-being of the Cobden and surrounding communities.
The Labor Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Fund is giving communities all
over Victoria the state-of-the-art sport and recreation facilities we promised.
Grassroots sports clubs are the lifeblood of Victoria’s suburbs and towns. The Labor Government is listening to communities, who say they need better sport and recreation
facilities to attract more members and grow.
Victoria’s population is set to boom – that’s why the $100 million Community Sports
Infrastructure Fund is so important.
Victoria is the sporting state, and the Labor Government wants it to stay that way.
The Community Sports Infrastructure Fund is helping clubs update tired grounds, and communities build the facilities they need.
It includes a $10 million fund for women’s change rooms – the single biggest investment in women’s participation in sport by an Australian state government.
