On another note, I thank Una McAlinden and the National Celtic Festival committee for their hard work in delivering a magnificent event in Portarlington over the recent long weekend. Live music and highly skilled artists were embraced by the town as they worked their Celtic magic for three days and three nights. The events demonstrated that towns like Portarlington punch well and truly above their weight. Local community capacity is so critical that it must be nurtured and appreciated. The moment we take volunteerism for granted all communities, whether small, large or in between, will be the poorer. Well done, Portarlington, and well done, Bellarine.
