More than 15 000 Victorian teachers and support staff rallied at Rod Laver Arena and marched to Parliament House last week as part of their campaign to get this government to abide by its election promise to give every single teacher in this state a decent pay rise. It was the biggest education protest in this state’s history, and I can attest that teachers were still marching up to Spring Street even in the closing minutes of the rally. It was a sight to behold, and over the next few months I am sure teachers will continue their fight to get this government to fulfil its election commitment to all Victorian teachers and restore justice.
