Colac children and families can now come together, get active, have fun and embrace the outdoors at two new playgrounds.
Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney today officially opened new playgrounds at Eastern Reserve and Wyuna Estate Open Space in Colac.
The Andrews Labor Government is making major upgrades to community sport and recreation facilities across the state, providing more opportunities for everyone to get active.
The new playgrounds at both reserves include a range of features for kids of all ages and abilities to develop skills, enjoy special memories and let their imaginations run wild.
The new playground at Eastern Reserve in Colac East features slides, ladders, a rock wall challenge, a commando crawl tube and interactive panels, basket swing, swing set and bumblebee spring rider.
It will be a wonderful addition to the sports and recreation activities on offer at Eastern Reserve including netball, cricket and baseball.
Meanwhile, the new playground at the Wyuna Estate community park in Elliminyt will be a great place for the growing number of young families moving into the estate to get together.
It includes a flying fox, combination unit, swing set, hip hop see saw, spring riders and basketball or netball pad and ring.
Playgrounds like these can be enjoyed by the whole family and are vital in developing balance, coordination and strength in children, as well as being a great place to meet new people, get active and healthy.
The two playgrounds were made possible by $60,000 from the Victorian Government.
Victoria is the sporting state, and we want to stay that way. The Labor Government’s $100 million Community Sports Infrastructure Fund is helping communities all over the state update tired grounds and build the facilities they need.
The project was funded in partnership with the Colac Otway Shire, who also contributed $60,000 towards the project.
