Students in Derrinallum will soon benefit from having maintenance works carried out at their schools thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.
Labor Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney today announced Derrinallum P-12 College is among 78 schools to share in $5.94 million of Planned Maintenance Program (PMP) funding to help address their maintenance needs.
Derrinallum P-12 College will receive $55,000 for high priority maintenance works on the school’s Shelter in Place building. These works will be delivered by the Victorian School Building Authority on behalf of the school.
The school will also receive $30,000 for high priority maintenance, including ceiling repairs, floor repairs, lighting repairs, painting, repairing soffits, ventilation fan repairs, window repairs and surface treatments.
The PMP provides funding for vital maintenance activities based on need.
A new evaluation system was put in place in 2018 to provide more precise information on the condition of school infrastructure to create timely and targeted allocation of PMP funding.
Last year, every Victorian school shared in $515 million as part of the single largest boost to school maintenance ever undertaken.
This funding is ensuring existing buildings at Victoria’s 1,500 state schools are safe, modern and properly maintained.
Today’s investment is in addition to the more than $7.2 billion already invested in Victorian school infrastructure, which is delivering more than 1,460 school upgrades and 100 new schools by 2026 – ensuring every child can access a great local school where they can achieve their best.
The school received $900,000 in the 2018-19 State Budget to deliver a new classroom and lounge for senior student and upgrades to student amenities, refurbishments to the school’s administration corridor and a new verandah for the north entry.
