The Andrew Labor Government has upgraded a fifth level crossing on the Warrnambool line as part of its plan to boost safety and restore reliable services for local passengers.
Member for Western Victoria announced today that the Wiridgil Lane level crossing in Weerite is now fitted with lights, bells and boom gates.
It follows the upgrade of the completion of works at Back Larpent Road in Larpent last month, and upgrades to level crossings at Phalps Road in Pirron Yallock, Flaxmill Road in Colac and Sandys Lane in Gnotuk last year.
The works are part of a $10 million program of works to upgrade 20 level crossings and restore services to timetable by the end of year.
In January, the Labor Government introduced 12 new services on the Warrnambool line in January – the first new services for Warrnambool in more than a decade.
