The Koroit Irish Festival has been recognised for its outstanding contributions to tourism, arts and culture by being awarded a grant from the Andrews Labor Government to support its continued success.
Labor Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney announced that Koroit Irish Festival has secured a $5,000 grant through the Labor Government’s Regional Events Fund.
An all weekend event, the Festival features live music, headline acts, theatre and a Gaelic sports carnival, all with a distinctly Irish flavour.
A highlight of the Festival is the street procession, where school children and locals march down the main street behind the 32 Irish county flags.
The Festival is a key date on the region’s events calendar, attracting 3500 people each year. It has become a significant cultural event not only for Koroit, but for the Australian Irish community.
Events like this mean serious business for Koroit and surrounding areas. They attract visitors, create jobs, and keep local businesses busy.
Our $20 million Regional Events Fund is helping rural and regional communities all over Victoria stage and secure events that bring visitors in their droves, support local communities and show off the best that regional Victoria has to offer.
The Koroit Irish Festival will run from April 27th – 29th, 2018.
