My adjournment matter this evening is for the Minister for Education, James Merlino, and it relates to the Portland Bay School, a special development school in south-west Victoria.
At the end of July the minister was in Portland and met with representatives of the school, including the principal, Stephen Crossley, and the school council president, Deb Robinson, to discuss a range of maintenance issues, but also the need for a new school site into the future. At that meeting a discussion was had around the need for a feasibility study that would be completed by the department.
Since that time I have been fortunate enough to also sit down with Deb Robinson and have been very pleased to hear reports that the department has had thorough consultations with the school, and they were very pleased with the minister’s visit and the subsequent follow-up actions of the department.
The action I seek of the minister tonight is for him to give me an indication of exactly when the feasibility study will be concluded, when the school will know and when we will receive the contents of that report.
