Gayle Tierney, State Member for Western Victoria congratulated Simpson Primary School and Timboon P-12 School for excellence in ‘on-the-job’ teacher training and creating a culture of continuous improvement.
Both Simpson Primary School and Timboon P-12 School received the accreditation certificate by the Minister for Education, John Lenders at an awards presentation at Essendon Keilor College on Friday 23 March.
The Bracks Government’s Performance and Development Culture initiative recognises schools that meet the accreditation standard for five key elements including induction programs for new teachers to the school, feedback to individual teachers on their effectiveness and customised plan for teacher’s professional learning and quality development.
“The Bracks Government is committed to supporting teachers through a range of initiatives, including teacher professional leave, induction and mentoring programs and ongoing professional development,” Ms. Tierney said.
“Timboon P-12 School and Simpson Primary School strives for excellence and has established a culture of continuous improvement giving their teachers the very best professional development opportunities and support, which in turn benefits students,” Ms. Tierney said.
“The school’s – one of 105 Victorian government and 10 Catholic schools – join 173 schools across Victoria that have achieved accreditation since 2005”.
“This initiative is creating an improved organisational culture and this school can be proud of their achievements in being accredited.” Ms. Tierney said.
