Drivers will have a safer, smoother and more reliable journey on Camperdown-Lismore Road with significant upgrades now underway thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.
Around three kilometres of Camperdown-Lismore Road near Larralea, south of Lismore, will undergo a full pavement rebuild to improve its strength, durability and longevity.
The old road surface will be churned up and an additional crushed rock layer will be added to create a new, stronger road pavement. A final seal will then be overlayed to protect the road and improve the ride quality for drivers.
In addition, works will include stormwater drainage improvements, new signage, linemarking and guidepost reflectors.
As a key route connecting the Hamilton and Princes highways, around 700 vehicles travel this road every day, as well as freight vehicles serving nearby agricultural hubs.
Works will take place Monday to Friday, between 7am to 5.30pm and are expected to be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting.
Locals are advised that speed and lane restrictions may be in place around the clock to keep drivers and workers safe.
Across the south west, the Labor Government is investing $91.9 million into rebuilding, resurfacing and repairing around 370 kilometres of roads as part of the record road maintenance blitz.
On top of RRV’s road maintenance program, regional councils are delivering 133 improvement projects on their municipal roads across the state thanks to round two of the Government’s $100 million Fixing Country Roads – program – including rebuilding sections of local roads, sealing gravel roads and strengthening bridges.
